Our Research and Innovation Process

The path to innovative discovery involves pursuing an idea from numerous directions.

In fact, our research and innovation process is best described as circular. One discovery leads to another and another, and so on, as our diverse research teams explore, collaborate, and challenge each other.

In practice, this could look like our Research and Analytical team finding a new chemistry in a plant or extract and then collaborating with our Discovery Research team to test for biological function.

Or, our Discovery Research team may observe biological activity and then work closely with our Research and Analytical team to identify every component of the plant material. This allows our researchers to find ways to isolate, concentrate, or combine the plant material with other material to create a valuable solution for our customers.

Our Research and Analytical Center

Our Research and Analytical Center (RAC) is state-of-the-art and equipped to discover and identify a wide array of phytonutrients and their complexes. Our in-house team of experts examines the nutritional compounds within plants and identifies synergies to develop innovative ingredient solutions.

The RAC is ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited by ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board), utilizing advanced equipment and analytical techniques to ensure the highest level of accuracy.
ISO/IEC 17025 accredited status means that the RAC quality management system and in-scope analytical methods meet the stringent requirements of an internationally recognized standard of quality food and pharmaceutical industry testing laboratories.
The RAC has 46 analytical methods in the scope of accreditation.
The head of our RAC, Dr. Boris Nemzer, has authored and co-authored over 150 scientific publications!

To confirm and validate our ingredient’s impact on the human body, we turn to our Discovery Research Center. Here, our team evaluates and validates the bioactivity and efficacy of our ingredients in the human body by:

New material discovery and development that includes activities like phytochemical screening and extensive literature review.
Bioclinical study to confirm bioavailability and bioaccessibility and target biomarker response.
Pilot performance and discovery testing that includes an initial assessment of functional benefits. This step also includes preliminary clinical protocol draft work for further development with universities and research partners.
